Akira: “In the Sage’s Guide, it’s mentioned that each wizard has their own personal power spot.”
Akira: “It seems like a place where you can let your mind focus and refresh.”
Akira: “I heard that it’s called ‘Mana Area’. Does Rustica also have one?”
Rustica: “My mana area is a tea table with two chairs set by the window, along with the scenery outside.”
Rustica: “I would sit there and have a nice cup of tea while watching the view from the window, feeling nostalgic and calm.”
Rustica: “But then, I would start getting restless.”
Akira: “Restless..?”
Rustica: “Yes. I can’t really put it in words, but I feel like I must do something... Hurry. Something like that.”
Rustica: “I always feel like it’s something I remembered until yesterday, but I can never recall what.”
Akira: “I see. It must be a bit... frustating.”
Rustica: “However, heart is the source of our magic, so.”
Rustica: “Holding onto this chest tightly, I believe that my mana area is a place for me to listen to the voice inside of my heart.”
Akira: “I heard that each Sage’s Wizard has a mark-like crest appearing on their body as a proof that they’re chosen as the Sage’s Wizard.”
Akira: “Can I ask where’s yours, Rustica?”
Rustica: “It should be this place behind the first button of the shirt, if you count it starting from the upper. However, I can’t show you the real thing right now since the clothes I’m currently wearing stretches if I pull on it..”
Akira: “You don’t have to force yourself to take it off just to show me! Did you know about the crest before?”
Rustica: “I was taught about the ‘Great Disaster’, the Sage’s Wizard, and the workings of this world in the distant past.”
Rustica: “I’ve also heard stories of Snow and White, as well as the Genius Scholar Murr who fought against the disaster.”
Akira: “They were famous after all... And then, suddenly becoming friends with them, did you find it surprising?”
Rustica: “Yes. But after I actually met them, they are all kind and funny that it made me relieved.”
Rustica: “In addition, the moon chose me together with Chloe.”
Akira: “I see.. The both of you have been travelling around, right?”
Rustica: “Yes. I thought that it was strange that we were chosen together, but at the same time I was also convinced.”
Akira: “Convinced..?”
Rustica: “About our destiny. It's probably for the sake of today that I met Chloe, and being with him together until now.”
Akira: “When wizards spend a long time away from their mana area, they carry around an amulet that reminds them of it. I read that in the Sage’s Guide.”
Akira: “It says that if they have the amulet, they can get similar effect as when they are in their mana area. Do you have an amulet too, Rustica?”
Rustica: “Yes. My amulet is this tea set.”
When Rustica looked back, the teapot and two cups that he had left on the desk started floating in the air and came over to us. Both of our cups are then filled with the piping hot tea to the brim.
Rustica: “My mana area is a tea table beside the window.”
Rustica: “But when I’m outdoors, having this tea set with warm tea really helps making my heart calm.”
As he talked, Rustica picked up the cup’s handle with his elegant fingers and took a gulp.
Rustica: “...Yup. The tea today is delicious too, I feel a lot better after drinking it. Master Sage too, please have a drink.”
Akira: “Thank you. Rustica is always drinking tea with such a peaceful smile, I can’t help but smile too when I see you.”
Rustica: “Having a cup of tea with someone, smiling as you spend your time together over it is one of the most wonderful things in life. It seems the amulet is working on it’s effect.”
Akira: “Hahaha, that’s true. I think I’m going to have the tea now.”
Rustica: “Go ahead. Please enjoy your time, Master Sage.”
Akira: “Rustica, do you remember what your family was like?”
Rustica: “Unfortunately, not so much. My memories of the people I have met in my past are fading away bit by bit, I’m feeling so old sometimes.”
Akira: “You once mentioned that you have lived a long life as a wizard too... Do you really not remember anything?”
Rustica: “Let’s see...”
Rustica: “When I think about family, I feel like I remembered the taste of an afternoon tea. We probably spent many times enjoying ourselves like that.”
Rustica: “Thinking about a father-like figure, I feel familiar with the scent of cigarettes and a tense atmosphere. He probably was a strict father who loved smoking.”
Rustica: “Thinking about a mother-like figure, I feel nostalgic with the sound of turning pages when you read a book. The child me probably used to read picture books together with her.”
Rustica: “But all those might just be my fantasies. I might have been painting my ideals of what a family would be like, imagining them like this thinking ‘It must be such fun times.’, thus what I said.”
Akira: “Fantasies... But they are so specific, I think they might be your real memories after all.”
Rustica: “That would be wonderful. So I was a really blessed child since the start. Ah, that’s right, I just remembered something.”
Akira: “What’s that?”
Rustica: “When I listen to the sound of harpsichord, sometimes, I can picture the white fingers touching the tuts softly. If there was someone by my side who loved music...”
Rustica: “I hope it was my bride.”
Akira: “Rustica, do you have any specialty in magic? Like, maybe a magic only you can use?”
Rustica: “My specialty in magic? That’s right...”
Rustica: “At times when I find my bride, I use magic to turn them into little birds and capture them...”
Akira: “Uhm, is that an always?”
Rustica: “No. Only when I feel like I don’t want to let them go.”
Rustica: “Although, I’m probably good at magic that turns something into different shape. I can turn flowers to butterflies, butterflies to birds, birds to snow, and snow to flowers.”
Akira: “I see... When you put it like that, I think that’s a beautiful magic that suits you.”
Rustica: “I am honored to hear that. Master Sage’s words are always able to soothe my heart so I’m thinking that, mayhaps, are you my missing...”
Akira: “Eh? No, I think I’m no —”
Rustica: “Amorest Viesse”
Akira: “Uwah..! Rustica is turning into a giant...!? No, wait, I’m the one who’s shrinking...!?”
Akira: “Ah! My hands! They’re growing feathers!! Crap! I don’t even know if I’m actually speaking human language at this point! S-Someone, help..!”
Rustica: “Now, please step your foot in.”
Rustica: “What a beautiful voice. From now on, I will wake up to your chirps every morning. We’re going to spend our wonderful days together starting now, my bride.”
Akira: “Hey, I feel like I heard someone singing along to violin. Over there, it’s Rustica and...”
Owen: “...”
Rustica: “Master Sage. So you were listening.”
Akira: “Rustica... Amazing, I didn’t know you can also play the violin.”
Rustica: “My specialty is the harpsichord, but I can play all other instruments just fine. I love both playing and listening to music.”
Akira: “It was lovely. ....Um, are you some sort of an acquaintance to Owen before?”
Rustica: “No, I only get to be acquaintanced with him since I came here. However, when I play an instrument, he would sometimes come to listen.”
Akira: “Even though Owen is such a difficult person... Is there anything that triggers the start of your friendship?”
Rustica: “That’s right. When I first met him, he said something really sad, and it drove me sorrowful...”
Rustica: “But I noticed that he has such a beautiful voice, so I tried playing the instrument and putting up a performance again.”
Akira: “The... response knocked the wind out of my sails.”
Rustica: “I don’t know since when, but his voice started to accompany the melody I played. Whenever I play an instrument now, he would silently come to listen.
Rustica: “Today too, I am glad that he came and sang to my melody with his beautiful voice. You are also very welcome to join us in the next time, Master Sage.”
